26 And when they had sung a hymn [presumably Psalms 115-118, which were sung at the end of the Passover meal], they went out to the Mount of Olives [which is en route back to Bethany, but Jesus has no intention of going there]. 27 And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away [stumble, the opposite of accepting faith], for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ [Zechariah 13:7 is already written to explain what will happen!] 28 But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.” 29 Peter said to him, “Even though they all fall away, I will not.” [Peter speaks up again, not understanding the future or his own character.] 30 And Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows twice [usually around 1:30 am], you will deny me three times.” 31 But he said emphatically, “If I must die with you, I will not deny you.” And they all said the same. [Peter represents the larger disciple group, who all vow the same thing.]
