Jesus Delivered to Pilate

1 When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death. 2 And they bound him and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate the governor. [Now the leaders have to find a way to get the death penalty implemented, and with Pilate they must have a good plan to out govern the governor! Only the Romans could institute the death penalty; the Jews were not permitted to carry out the penalty for their own laws.]
