Mark 8:11-13, The Pharisees Demand a Sign

11 The Pharisees came and began to argue with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him. [All four gospels record this demand that contrasts with the crowd, who came for his teaching.] 12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Truly, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.” [Convincing people against their will by signs and wonders, is the opposite of faith. Their belief would be logic. Pharoah saw ten signs but never came to faith. These men suffer from a heart condition, not from a lack of evidence.] 13 And he left them, got into the boat again, and went to the other side. [When Jesus leaves, you stand condemned.]
