51 And a young man followed him, with nothing but a linen cloth about his body. And they seized him, 52 but he left the linen cloth and ran away naked. [This is an example of eyewitness testimony from a person involved in the events because all the disciples, including Peter, have left. The arresting party tried to arrest him too, treating him as someone on Jesus’ side. His desperate naked flight screams out: “Every man for himself!” Papias claims that Mark neither heard nor was a disciple of Jesus, meaning he is not this young man. One theologian has suggested the man is Lazarus. As a wanted man, his need for anonymity in Jerusalem explains why he is unnamed.]
