Knowing The Word in Luke 2:51-52, Jesus Increases in Wisdom and Stature

After Jesus’ bold adventure in the temple, Luke turns to his submissiveness during his teenage years, a reference possible to the Fifth Commandment to honor one’s parents. That Jesus increases in wisdom and stature (mind and body), shows his true humanity as he grows in intellect and physicality as other human beings do.

51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me appreciate Jesus’ perfect human nature and submissiveness today, that I may not, for one moment, admit willingly into my mind any thought contrary to his perfect love, and to be master of myself that I may be the servant of others. Amen.
