Knowing The Word in Luke, 2:39-40, The Return to Nazareth

Luke and Matthew agree that Jesus grew up in Nazareth. Joseph and Mary demonstrated by their pious upholding of the law that they, like Zechariah and Elizabeth, were part of the remnant in Israel who were prepared to help enter in the age of the Messiah. We also learn that like anyone, Jesus grew physically and intellectually.

39 And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. 40 And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, as you grew in body and mind, help me today to take care of my body as a temple of your presence and my mind as it is renewed and transformed by focusing on you. Amen.
