Knowing The Word in Luke 2:21, The Circumcision of Jesus

Eight days later Jesus sheds his first blood as he is circumcised into the Old Covenant. His blood will be shed again when God makes a New Covenant through the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross.

21 And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Prayer: Almighty God, you have given your only-begotten Son to take our nature upon him, and to be born of a pure virgin: Grant that we, who have been born again and made your children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by your Holy Spirit. Amen. (BCP)
