Knowing The Word in 2 Corinthians 11:4, Another Jesus

4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.
This verse is a full-on denunciation of the gullibility and culpability of the Corinthians. The false apostles have preached another Jesus, a different spirit, and a different gospel than the one he preached. Their minds have been taken captive into believing what the opponents promised—perhaps that everyone would have health and wealth without suffering! This sounds like a familiar twisting of the gospel one can hear today from some churches. Jesus promised that those who truly followed him would encounter suffering.
Heavenly Father, we bring to you in prayer people who are suffering in body, mind, and spirit. We remember those who are persecuted for their faith; those who are facing long and incurable illness; those who are cast down by the cares and sorrows of daily life; and those who have lost their faith and live in a dark place. In your mercy maintain their courage, life their burdens, renew their faith, and comfort them with your Spirit, that they may find in you their strength, their comfort, and their peace; for our Savior’s sake.
